Travel and Tourism Summit gathers world tourism leaders to discuss future of travel and tourism

Under the slogan “Travel for a Better Future”, world tourism experts from the public and private sectors will gather in Riyadh from tomorrow November 28 to December 1, to participate in the 22nd World Travel & Tourism Council Global Summit (WTTC), here.
WTTC discusses ways to contribute the travel and tourism sector to the development and sustainability of the economy, and to the creation of new job opportunities that contribute to the development of societies.
WTTC will host diverse sessions, to discuss means of strategic cooperation in the travel sector, and enhance its ability to face various future challenges. The event will also include several main and various dialogue sessions, in which the former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, and former British Prime Minister Theresa May will participate as keynote speakers.
Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb said: “This summit comes at a fundamental and vital time for the travel and tourism sector globally, so what we will discuss here in Riyadh will have a great impact on the global travel and tourism sector, for a better future for all.”
The WTTC summit will discuss several important subjects, including the need to develop the travel and tourism sector, search for attractions that meet the requirements of tourists and meet their expectations, and achieve a balance between sustainability and growth and promoting innovation. This parallels the Kingdom’s efforts through its ambitious tourism development strategy, which is based on major factors that adopt concepts of sustainability through projects supported by renewable energy, such as the NEOM and Red Sea projects.
The Summit also aims to discuss how to restore travel enthuse globally and support the sector’s recovery from the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, in addition to discussing current political and geographical issues affecting travel.
The travel and tourism sector seeks to improve environmental impact measurement frameworks through sustainable investments totaling $35.3 trillion in 2022. This includes studying waste disposal systems and searching for positive ways to benefit from them without harming the environment.
In terms of creating job opportunities, the tourism sector in several developing countries is one of the largest sectors employing a large number of citizens, and the sector is expected to create about 126 million job opportunities in new and promising destinations. The summit will also allow participants to discuss business to ensure a vital future that helps individuals grow and develop, search for ways to improve the new infrastructure to find investment opportunities in the sector, and support and train the community to contribute to the local economy.
