Originated in Italy, chicken marinara is common in many countries. The delicious dish is made of chicken pieces, which are breaded, fried, smothered with sauce, topped with Mozzarella, and baked.

Topped with marinara sauce and cheese, this dish is usually served with pasta. One of the secrets of a delicious chicken marinara recipe is to add plenty of fresh basil to the marinara tomato sauce, so you will get the best chicken marinara ever.



  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 3 onions, peeled, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil


  • 3/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 4 boneless chicken breasts
  • 4 Tbsp olive oil
  • 3/4 cup grated mozzarella cheese


Combine strewed tomatoes, garlic, onions, oregano, fresh basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Blend until smooth, then in a large skillet over medium heat add olive oil. Add the blended tomato sauce and cook for about 20 minutes.

Combine breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese. Cover the chicken breasts with flour, then in the egg and then in the breadcrumb mixture.

Add chicken breasts in a frying pan with olive oil and sauté until golden on both sides. Place chicken breasts onto a lightly greased baking dish.  Spread marinara sauce over chicken and bake in oven for about 20 minutes. At the end top chicken breast with shredded mozzarella cheese, once cheese is melted, serve with pasta.
