Over 30 Events at Ithra to Celebrate Eid al-Adha with Global Cultural Experiences

Dhahran – Asdaf News:

The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra), an initiative of Aramco, is preparing to launch a special celebratory program in honor of Eid Al-Adha. The celebrations will run for four consecutive days, starting on the second day of the Eid holidays from May 28–31, 2026. Designed as a comprehensive experience featuring more than 30 activities, the program reflects the spirit and joy of Eid. This year’s celebrations are anchored by the theme “Ithra Eid: Moments We Share”, where the Center reimagines the concept of festivity by transforming its facilities into diverse cultural hubs representing six distinct cultures from the Islamic world. This initiative stems from the Center’s commitment to delivering exceptional experiences to visitors, thereby reinforcing its status as a multidimensional cultural and creative destination.

The Scent of Eid
The visitor experience begins in the plaza, where guests can discover perfumes derived from cities across Saudi Arabia, ranging from bakhoor (Incense) to flowers, through the “Story in The Scent” station. Visitors will learn unique methods of blending these scents to immerse themselves in the essence of Eid, exploring fragrances that tell stories and preserve the aromatic heritage integral Eid rituals. In the ‘Grandma’s Eid Tales’ corner, where warm memories are reimagined with a modern touch, guests can co-create a live mural using cutting-edge virtual reality technology.

Humoud AlKhudher at Ithra Theater
For consecutive three days, visitors will have the chance to witness one of the most prominent contemporary Gulf voices. Humoud AlKhudher returns to Ithra Theater this year to present a musical concert filled with joy and cheer, featuring live singing, captivating melodies, and celebratory atmosphere.

Tafasahu: Make Room
Since Eid at Ithra is viewed as a home where visitors gather, the “Tafasahu” exhibition serves as an invitation to reflect on the concept of belonging within the context of the traditional “Majlis” (Gathering Space). The installation deconstructs the Majlis into its essential elements while centering stories, memories and subtle traces of everyday life that animated it. The Majlis was not merely a place for hospitality; it was also a vehicle for transmitting heritage and culture.

Challenges and Storytelling
In the Library, Eid tales will be narrated, focusing on a protagonist’s attempts to convince others of the unique nature of Eid celebrations in his house. Through the story, it becomes clear that Eid touches every heart and fills every house with joy and togetherness. Following the storytelling session, families will engage in an interactive activity where they discuss and write Eid greetings, allowing them to feel the deep emotions associated with the holiday. The Library will also host exciting challenges and enriching competitions in an enthusiastic atmosphere.

A Journey Around the World
In the Children’s Museum, young visitors will embark on a virtual journey around the world to learn how people celebrate Eid and the traditional clothing worn across diverse cultures. Children will have the opportunity to design their own creations using fun techniques that reflect joy from around the globe. During this process, they will watch a short film celebrating the beauty of clothing and the traditions of Eid Al-Adha.
