European Parliament Delegation in Riyadh and Jeddah for 18th EU-Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Interparliamentary Meeting

Parliamentarians from the European Parliament’s Delegation for relations with the Arab Peninsula (DARP) will be in Riyadh and Jeddah, from 19 to 21 July, for the 18th EU-Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) Interparliamentary meeting, as well as a series of key encounters with several high-level stakeholders.

Ahead of the visit, DARP Chair, Reinhold Lopatka MEP stated: “In the face of continuing regional instability, it is crucial that we strengthen our relationship with like-minded partners. Tehran’s most recent attacks are a grave concern, and we reiterate – in the clearest possible terms – our full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people.

“The 18th EU-KSA Interparliamentary meeting symbolises our long-standing commitment to deepening our strategic partnership. We are keen to make further progress, notably through the bilateral Strategic Partnership Agreement, which would provide a structured framework to enhance cooperation in areas likes security and crisis preparedness, energy and clean technologies, the digital transformation and artificial intelligence, transport and connectivity, critical raw materials, as well as education, research and culture.”

It is worth mentioning that the Delegation for relations with the Arab Peninsula (DARP) is a standing body of the European Parliament that is responsible for interparliamentary relations with Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
