Watch Lebanese Dancing Group Create History On America’s Got Talent on TOD

Season 17 finale for America’s Got Talent proved to be historic for the Arab region when Mayyas, a Lebanese female dance group claimed victory taking home the $1 million prize.

‘Mayyas’ as explained by a crew member is an Arabic word that stands for the proud walk of a lioness. The group wowed the judges from the beginning of the season, winning a Golden Buzzer by Sophia Vergara in their first show at the audition itself.

The beauty, coordination, imagination by the Mayyas shined through, winning the hearts of the judges, audiences and millions of viewers from around the world. “We want to inspire dancers in Lebanon to keep on dreaming, to keep on working and training, because it’s not impossible no matter where you come from,” Mayyas’ Lara Djibian said in an interview after their win.

TOD’s John Paul Mckerlie, VP of Marketing and Sales congratulated the team saying, “This is a historic moment that shows the world how talented the Arab youth, especially the Arab women are.
