Tabuk Pharmaceuticals to Sponsor ‘Movember’ Webinar on Men’s Health
Organized by the Saudi Society of Men’s Health and presented by eminent doctors
Riyadh – :
Tabuk Pharmaceuticals, one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in the MENA region, will sponsor a live webinar to be held on 25 November to mark Movember, the ‘month of the man’ observed globally in November to raise awareness on men’s health issues. Conducted by the Saudi Society of Men’s Health (SSMH), the webinar will be presented by four eminent doctors of different specialties and will aim to educate men in Saudi society on the importance of taking care of their health.
Studies in different parts of the world have shown that men are more likely to neglect their own health, resulting in worse health outcomes compared to women. A survey conducted in 2014 by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington, covering all 13 regions of the Kingdom, found higher incidences of morbid obesity, diabetes, hypertension, uncontrolled blood pressure, and hypercholesterolemia in men.
The webinar is the latest among SSMH’s initiatives to raise awareness of men’s health in the community. Functioning under the King Saud University, the society is the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia that advances the scientific and professional performance of health practitioners and raises the level of awareness in the community regarding men’s health through awareness programs, campaigns, and specialized educational seminars.
Commenting on the webinar, Dr. Saleh bin Saleh, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of SSMH said, “Through this program, we aim to increase society’s awareness on men’s health issues, and educate Saudi men on the importance of physical and mental wellness and safeguarding themselves against diseases. We also aim to encourage them to adopt healthy lifestyles.”
Dr. Abdullah Al Mohizea, the General Manager of Tabuk Pharmaceuticals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia said that the company’s decision to sponsor the webinar as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility upholds its commitment to improving the community’s health and well-being. “By sponsoring this initiative of SSMH, we hope that the awareness message will reach a larger population, helping it get the attention it deserves and highlighting the issue of men’s health at the national level,” he added.
The webinar is open to men above the age of 40. Questions on men’s health issues may be submitted in advance until 24 November through SSMH’s Twitter page: https://twitter.com/SSMH_Public , where access to the live webinar video will also be available. In addition to Tabuk Pharmaceuticals, the event is being supported by the Mutahidaa chain of pharmacies (United Pharmacies).
