Riyadh – Asdaf News:
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) advised customers to moderate their coffee drinking after Iftar to prevent symptoms associated with excessive caffeine use.
According to the SFDA, consuming too much coffee at Iftar is probably bad for the fasting person’s health. A healthy adult should not exceed a daily caffeine intake of 400 mg, which is equivalent to 15 cups of Saudi coffee with a 50 ml volume. Pregnant women should not exceed a daily caffeine intake of 300 mg.
Due to the related symptoms of insomnia, a rapid heartbeat, and frequent urination, which causes the body to lose essential fluids and occasionally leads in headaches, the SFDA underlined the importance of avoiding excessive coffee consumption during Ramadan.
The SFDA added that Ramadan is a suitable time to reduce excessive caffeine consumption without running the risk of adverse side effects. This is due to the possibility of withdrawal symptoms from caffeine, such as headaches, anxiety, and jitters.
