Rublev advances to the quarterfinals of the men’s Qatar Tennis Open with a comeback victory

Andrei Rublev defeated Tallon Griekspoor on Wednesday in the round of 16 of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open for men’s tennis after coming back from 1-6 in the first set to win 6-1 and 5-2.
The Russian wants a repeat of 2020, when he won the championship. Today, he will face Jiri Lehecka in the quarterfinals.
After defeating Australian Jason Kubler (2-1) 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 earlier in the day, Canadian Felix Auger became the first player to advance to the quarterfinals of the tennis tournament.

On Tuesday, South Korean SoonWoo Kwon defeated Jordanian Abedallah Shelbayh in the main round of competitions (1-2) 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
The Qatari Federation gave the three players, Mubarak Shanan, Malik Jaziri, and Abedallah Shelbayh, wildcards in order to assist Arab players and give them opportunities to compete in the Qatar ExxonMobil Tournament, one of the key events on the Professional Tennis Players Association schedule.–QNA
