Riyadh Airports Inaugurates a New Flight Route Between Riyadh and Amsterdam Operated by KLM

Riyadh Airports Company (RAC) celebrated the launch of a new route between the Dutch capital Amsterdam and the Saudi capital Riyadh operated by Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM), one of the leading airlines in Europe and the world. This new route marks KLM’s very first operation through King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) Riyadh, marking a new chapter for both KLM and KKIA.

The inauguration ceremony of this new route and the arrival of the first flight from Amsterdam were attended by Her Excellency Janet Alberda, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Saudi Arabia, Hamid Sait, Country Manager of KLM and Abdulaziz Al-Asaker, General Manager Aeronautical Business Development at Riyadh Airports.

Her Excellency Janet Alberda said, “Riyadh has a strategic location ripe with economic and tourism opportunities and capabilities. The launch of this new route will open new avenues to elevate tourism between Saudi Arabia, Netherlands and Europe, benefit passengers traveling along this route, as well as offer companies and mainstay industries in the Netherlands an opportunity to witness and invest in the ongoing transformation of Saudi Arabia.”

Abdulaziz Al-Asaker, General Manager Aeronautical Business Development at Riyadh Airports said, “We appreciate and value our partnership with KLM, which is a direct result of the efforts of the team here at KKIA and the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Saudi Arabia. This new route will serve as a gateway for people and businesses in Saudi Arabia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and whole of Europe, and vice versa, through KLMs network that extends to North America.”

The Royal Dutch Airlines will operate 2 flights weekly between Riyadh and Amsterdam.

This step comes as part of the strategic direction pursued by Riyadh Airports Company, which aims to reinforce the position of King Khalid International Airport as an important international airport and the world’s gateway to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
