Qatari Forum for Authors 2023 launches a new strategy with several programs and initiatives

Riyadh – Asdaf News:
The Qatari Forum for Authors has announced the release of its annual plan of activities and events for 2023, which includes several cultural initiatives aimed at enhancing the cultural movement and the presence of writers and authors in society.
Dr. Aisha Jassim Al Kuwari, Director General of the Qatari Forum for Authors, stated exclusively to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the Forum established a new strategy for this year, including several new projects for the current year with a new look and different imprint, some of which were already launched in January 2023, as well as new initiatives during the coming period.
According to Al Kuwari, one of the most important events included in the forum’s new strategy was a ‘get more and create’ competition for all age groups, from children to adults, to encourage them to read. The competition aims to solidify reading as a social habit, improve the general culture of the public, and maximize books’ role as a primary source of education.
She explained that ‘get more and create’ will run for four months and be divided into two parts. The first section focuses on reading a specific number of books for each group stage (children, young adults, and adults), while the second section focuses on summarizing what has been read in a literary and creative manner. She stressed that coordination is underway with partner agencies and sponsors to launch the competition as soon as possible.
According to the Forum’s Director General, one of the forum’s new activities is the “tale event,” which hosts the most significant writers in the State of Qatar who have achieved significant success, not only in the field of writing but also at various levels. The’story’ depicts the significant success experiences of a significant category of Qatari writers and authors in various fields, serving as an example and a successful role model by revealing a portion of these successful characters’ lives in order to serve as a source of inspiration for Qatari youth and society in general. This initiative will be launched near the end of January 2023.
In an interview with QNA, Dr. Aisha Jassim Al Kuwari confirmed that the Qatari Forum for Authors (QFA) is currently seeking to attract new writers, particularly young people, and encourage them to put forward their initiatives in a way that contributes to enriching the cultural movement, while also being keen to honor adult writers and encourage them to return to enrich the cultural scene to benefit from their experiences and ideas.
She praised the Ministry of Culture’s ongoing support for the QFA, noting that the new building to which the forum will relocate will be a home for writers as well as an umbrella for their intellectual meetings and various activities, as the forum works to encourage authors in Qatar, publish their publications, and create a spirit of cooperation among all.
She stated that the QFA will continue to collaborate with relevant authorities and sign memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with numerous agencies and institutions, and that the forum will work to strengthen ties with Arab and international authors and unions by hosting and cooperating with them through joint activities in person or virtually.
Al Kuwari added that the forum was eager to continue the existing projects represented in the members’ individual initiatives, as well as existing projects based on MoUs or events that keep pace with national and international events, highlighting the Ministry of Culture’s long-term plans and projects that align with the Qatar National Strategy 2020-2030.–QNA
