MEFCC Announces Celebrities for the 2023 Line-up Which are Andy Serkis, Jamie Campbell Bower, and May Calamawy

Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC) that will take place at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from March 3 to 5 has yet another exciting announcement. Visitors will get a chance to meet renowned actor, director, producer, voice actor and author, Andy Serkis on Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5. To delight fans of the fantasy and superhero genre. Visitors at MEFCC will get a chance to meet renowned actor Jamie Campbell Bower of Stranger Things and May Calamawy of Moon Knight in addition to Andy Serkis, Matt Smith, Anthony Daniels, Christopher Sabat, Zach Aguilar, and Paige O’Hara.

Meet the Stars
What makes Andy Serkis special? Andy Serkis is a seasoned artist best known for his role as ‘Gollum’ in the The Lord of the Ringsfranchise, ‘Caeser’ in the Planet of the Apes films, ‘Supreme Leader Snoke’ in the latest Star Wars films, ‘Ulysses Klaue’ in Black Panther and Avengers: Age of Ultron, and ‘Alfred Pennyworth’ in The Batman.

He is also a BAFTA-winning actor for his portrayal of ‘Ian Dury’ in a 2010 biographical film about the musician, which is just one of his many awards across the film, television, and theatre industry. In 2012, Andy co-founded the production company The Imaginarium, which released its latest series last October 2022 with Half Bad: The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself on Netflix. Through Imaginarium, he also directed the films Breathe, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, and recently, Venom: Let there be Carnage, of which he is set to direct its third installment.

Catch Andy in this year’s MEFCC as part of the official celebrity line-up along with House of the Dragon’s Matt Smith and C-3PO star, Anthony Daniels. It doesn’t end here as more celebrities are to be announced soon.

Mark Simpson, known as Jock, is no stranger to comic fans. He has worked across different comic universes such as Marvel and DC, and most famously, in Judge Dredd and The Losers. He has won multiple awards as an artist, like the National Comic Award in 2001 for Best New Talent, working on Judge Dredd. He has also produced the art and concept design for films such Dredd, Annihilation, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Ex Machina.

Comics, Anime, Manga and Short Film Workshops at The Creative Academy

Learn to draw comic book characters from our lineup of International Artists, bring out the aspiring James Cameron in you and learn how to get into the film industry with various indie directors, producers and actors, and last but not least, upgrade your crafting, make up and prop building skills with our professional cosplayers.

Meet fellow film geeks at Cine Club
Another fan favourite that is not to be missed this year is the Cine Club, from screenings, Q&A panels and fireside chats with celebrities to community meet ups. There are sessions ranging from The Language of Cosplay, KPOP meets Kdrama, timeless favourites, anime, celebrity panels and more.

A number of exhibitors and brands are making their way to MEFCC to give the visitors access to exclusives, limited edition items and the best of the pop culture scene in the UAE. Brands from Funko, Konami, Capeless, Kage Collectibles, Geekay, Samsung, Comicave, Mangabound, Huawei, The Little Things, Kinokuniya, Samyang, Warner Brothers and Tony Santiago Art amongst many other will be featured.
