The Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul on Saturday witnessed Manchester City’s winning of the first Europe’s premier cup competition.
City become the 23rd club to have won the Uefa Champions League or its precursor, the European Cup, and will now be hoping to be a dominant force for years to come.
City triumphed despite losing inspirational midfielder Kevin De Bruyne to an injury in the first half.
The victory means City finally achieved their ambition of reaching the summit of European football. Ever since Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Abu Dhabi United Group took ownership of the club in 2008, winning Europe’s premier cup competition had been the ultimate aim.
