Riyadh – Asdaf News:
The World Tourism Organization (WTO) has raised $214 million to fund startups, according to Luis Nicolás Barrios, regional director for innovation, education, and investment. He also noted that the organization faces many challenges in supporting small and medium-sized businesses, including the competition in the tourism industry, particularly as it works to help and support member states to allow competition in this sector.
Barrios stated that the WTO has created a program called the Digital Future that aims to reach two million small and medium-sized businesses within three years through 166 member states of the organization to cover five regions and 22 countries. He made this statement while participating in Biban Forum 23 activities.
The WTO official emphasized the significance of emerging, small, and medium-sized businesses in the tourist sector, given that the industry contributes 6.1% of the world’s production, down from 10.2% before the Coronavirus caused harm to these businesses.
