AFC President: The 2023 Asian Cup will be successful, just like the Qatar-hosted 2022 FIFA World Cup

Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, the president of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), expressed his hopes that the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, which will be held in Qatar in January 2024, will be one of the most successful Asian competitions, comparable to the exceptional and illustrious success of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Sheikh Salman remarked in an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the AFC’s decision to select the State of Qatar to host the 2023 AFC Asian Cup was an easy one and noted that Qatar’s achievement in hosting the World Cup is unmatched.
In hope that the Asian Cup will be among the most successful Asian competitions, he noted that he had attended many previous World Cup editions and that the 2022 edition was remarkable and one of the most successful World Cup tournaments.
The 7th AFC Medical Conference, which took place in Doha over three days and ended on Monday with the attendance of about 600 attendees, was hailed as a success by the AFC President.
The AFC President acknowledged that the conference was a success on all fronts and thanked Aspetar Hospital for hosting it, noting that everyone who attended benefited greatly from the speakers and that the turnout was very encouraging. He also stressed the importance of the medical side of sports, specifically football, in the growth of the game.
Sheikh Salman praised the Aspetar Hospital for its pioneering work, noting that although the project just began a few years ago, it has a significant impact beyond the local community. He expressed the expectation that the hospital would play a significant role in Asia and benefit from its expertise in the treatment of sports injuries and sports medicine.
The AFC President praised the Qatar Football Association and Aspetar Hospital for their tremendous efforts in organizing the 7th AFC Medical Conference. He further expressed his hope that their future cooperation would be enhanced and expanded.
