Two Prizes in the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad Highlight Kingdom’s Talents

The European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad 2023 (EGMO), which is taking place in Slovenia from April 13 to 19 awarded Saudi Arabia represented by “Mawhiba”, and the Ministry of Education, two international medals today.

With their participation in the Olympiad, the Saudi talents increased the number of medals won by the Kingdom to 26 in all EGMO editions, in which 213 students from 55 different nations are competing. This continued the Kingdom’s success in international scientific competitions.

Saudi Arabia’s student Jana Ali Saad Al-Dosari, from the Eastern Region Education Directorate, won a bronze medal, while student Fatimah Hassan Mohammed Bu Ali, from the Al-Ahsa Region Education Directorate, won a certificate of appreciation.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received congratulations for the accomplishment from Mawhiba’s Secretary-General, Dr. Amal Al-Hazzaa.

The Secretary-General emphasized that this accomplishment symbolizes the Kingdom’s institutions working together to develop both male and female potential to the greatest levels of knowledge through education and training in line with the most recent worldwide techniques for nurturing talent.

Dr. Al-Hazaa congratulated the Mawhiba, the Ministry of Education, and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) for their successful and illustrious cooperation and partnership, which has resulted in achieving such success through an ambitious relationship.

The Saudi team participating in the 2023 EGMO has undergone intensive training to develop the scientific skills of the female students, who were nominated to participate based on the results achieved in the training forums held by the Mawhiba in cooperation with its partners.

The awards of the 2023 EGMO are scheduled to be distributed on Wednesday during a special ceremony.
