Saudi Scientist Discovers New Treatment to Reduce Coronavirus and Fatty Liver Problems Risk

Taif – Asdaf News:

A medical research discovery by Dr. Jawaher Alharthi, a Saudi researcher from Taif University and the University of Sydney, may aid in the prevention of fatty liver disease and coronavirus complications.
The study by Alharthi revealed the risk factors for complications from fatty liver disease and the potential to target these factors to create novel treatments. To share her uncommon discoveries, she published her research in the peer-reviewed publication Nature Communications.

According to Alharthi, her work may be able to shield individuals against fatty liver disease and lower their risk of coronavirus consequences. She discovered crucial genes that, when lowered, result in serious physical function abnormalities and boost immune activity because of inflammatory cytokines.

Alharthi’s research group was successful in implementing changes that help restore the gene’s levels in the cell to normal. With regard to treating the aforementioned disorders and reaching a quality medical breakthrough, Alharthi continued, “This discovery would mark a significant shift.”

Around a quarter of the world’s population suffers from fatty liver disease, which is widespread. The Arab Gulf nations and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are among the states having high prevalence of the illness. According to Alharthi’s research, the higher death rate among those with fatty liver disease who also have coronavirus is caused by a gene-related component. “The coronavirus has proven an ability to modify the genetic makeup of the infected individual in a way that accelerates the progression of fatty liver disease and hence a deterioration of the patient’s health condition,” she said. “The coronavirus also causes other related diseases and disorders.”
