Saudi Physics Team Takes Home Four Prizes in the 2023 European Physics Olympiad

Germany hosted the 7th European Physics Olympiad (EuPhO), June 16–20, where the Saudi physics team took home four top honours.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia increased the total number of prizes in these competitions to 17, thanks to the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) and the Ministry of Education.
Among the 181 students of both sexes competing in EuPhO and from 38 nations, the Saudi team managed to win the medals.

Bronze medalists in the competition were Hussein Qadah from the Jeddah Education Department and Mohammed Al-Barakat from the Eastern Region, both of whom had completed 2,400 hours of training.
Additionally, Roz Al-Sindi from the Makkah Education Department earned a certificate of recognition, while Mazen Al-Shakhs, a student from Al-Ahsa, won a bronze medal. Al-Shakhs and Al-Sindi underwent rigorous training for 2,000 and 1,700 hours, respectively.

According to Dr. Amal Al-Hazzaa, the Secretary-General of Mawhiba, this achievement represents a continuation of the Kingdom’s successes in international contests.
