Saudi Arabia’s Expo 2025 Pavilion Achieves Exclusive WELL Health-Safety Rating

Riyadh – Asdaf News:

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Pavilion for Expo 2025 Osaka has achieved the prestigious WELL Health-Safety Rating, making it the only international pavilion to date to secure this important certification. This recognition underscores the pavilion’s commitment to prioritizing the health and well-being of its staff and visitors.

During a recent ceremony at the Saudi Pavilion, Dr. Ghazi Binzagr, Saudi Ambassador to Japan and Commissioner General of the Saudi Pavilion, accepted the certificate from Jack Noonan, Senior Vice President of the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). Dr. Binzagr emphasized that this certification reflects the pavilion’s dedication to sustainable design and operational excellence, highlighting how integrating WELL Building standards directly supports the well-being of staff and enhances the visitor experience.

The WELL Health-Safety Rating is a globally recognized standard that promotes health and well-being in built environments. It’s rooted in extensive research, advocating for design interventions, operational protocols, and policies that cultivate a culture of well-being within a space. Managed by the IWBI, the system ensures independent evaluation and verification, ultimately creating environments that enhance health, happiness, and productivity.

Designed by the renowned firm Foster + Partners, the pavilion draws inspiration from traditional Saudi villages. Its design seamlessly integrates sustainability elements, including the use of renewable energy, low-carbon materials, and a lightweight façade featuring easily disassembled stone panels to minimize its environmental footprint.

This certification further highlights the pavilion’s alignment with international standards for temporary buildings, specifically focusing on occupant health across key categories such as air quality, water quality, nutrition, lighting, physical fitness, comfort, and mental health.
