Qatari filmmakers Emphasize Qumra’s Contribution to a Strong National Film Development

Filmmakers in Qatar, both nationals and residents, have emphasized the importance of Qumra, the Doha Film Institute’s annual industry incubator event, in creating a robust national film and creative industry that enables them to realize their cinematic ambitions and bring their works to a wider audience.

13 domestic projects by Qatari filmmakers, including both features and shorts, are being supported by Qumra 2023. The filmmakers of seven of these movies are Qataris. With in-person meetings, workshops, and masterclasses, more than 200 industry professionals, including five prominent Qumra Masters, are assisting their script-to-screen journey.

The Doha Film Institute, according to the filmmakers, is a vital resource that helps them learn more about the entire film industry, from scripting through funding, production, post-production, marketing, distribution, and displaying their films at international film festivals.–QNA
