Elon Musk stated on Wednesday that he may be able to name his successor as CEO of Twitter by the end of 2023, but first has to “stabilize” his social media platform.
During his speech at the World Government Summit in Dubai, Musk said that he needs to stabilize the organization and just make sure it’s in a financially healthy place and that the product roadmap is clearly laid out.
His guess is that probably towards the end of this year should be good timing to find someone else to run the company because he thinks it should be in a stable position around the end of this year.
In October, as part of his $44 billion acquisition of the social media company, Musk assumed the role of CEO of Twitter. Musk made it clear, end of 2022 that he doesn’t intend to serve as Twitter’s CEO indefinitely and will eventually pass over control to someone else.
In December, Musk lost the poll when he asked people whether he should step down as the head of Twitter and people agreed that he should.
Following the poll Musk stated that he will step down when he finds someone to take over and that he will just run the software & servers teams.
