Arabic calligraphy is taking center stage at the Summer of Zallal events in Diriyah. Running every Thursday and Friday until August 30, the event in the Al-Bujairi District offers interactive and creative experiences for all ages, with the calligraphy workshops proving to be a major draw.
Visitors are lining up to have their names elegantly inscribed by Saudi calligrapher Ayman Al-Khadhra. He told the Saudi Press Agency that he uses a variety of beautiful, traditional styles, including Thuluth, Jeli Thuluth, Diwani, and even historic scripts like Kufic. The enthusiastic participation, he noted, highlights a growing appreciation for preserving traditional arts.
The Zallal project is one of Diriyah’s key developments, with seven modern buildings spanning more than 53,000 square meters. It’s home to upscale restaurants, cafés, and venues for cultural events and live performances.
