First Edition of Saudi Traditional Fashion in the Central Region Book Published by Darah

Riyadh – Asdaf News:

Under the patronage of HRH Princess Sara bint Mashhour bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, wife of HRH the Crown Prince, the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) issued yesterday the first edition of the book “Saudi Traditional Fashion in the Central Region”, written by Professor Dr. Laila Saleh Al-Bassam.

The book is proof of the interest and care that Darah receives from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Darah King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and from HRH the Crown Prince and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, to preserve the cultural heritage of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The book is a unique publication that opens a historical window through which the reader can take a deep look at the rich Saudi cultural heritage; it represents an opportunity to understand the traditional costumes that the Saudis wear proudly, and a way to preserve this heritage and document it in a renewed, modern and elegant way.

This first edition includes a comprehensive documentation of traditional costumes in the central region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reflecting Al-Bassam’s knowledge and academic expertise in Saudi traditional costumes.

The book contains information about men’s and women’s clothing and decorations, a comparison of men’s and women’s styles, the art of embroidery and materials used for that, and the names and shapes of traditional hand stitches.–SPA
