Riyadh – Asdaf News:
Waleed Seddiq, a Saudi scholarship student, has received the Harvard Medical School Annual Conference Award for his research, which led to the development of a cure for brain cancer utilising viruses.
“We are currently using cold viruses, which are known as genetically modified HSV, to target brain cancer,” Seddiq said to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). Due to the fact that none of the available medications can penetrate the blood-brain barrier, treating a patient with brain cancer has proven to be extremely challenging. Fortunately, these viruses can precisely move to the malignant cells in the patient’s brain via the patient’s own stem cells.
He said, “The currently published research is in the clinical trial stages at Harvard University and the university’s BWH Hospital.”–SPA
