Tom Cruise on first flight into Abu Dhabi International Airport’s new Midfield Terminal

Abu Dhabi – Asdaf News:

Before the movie’s Middle Eastern debut at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental tomorrow evening, Tom Cruise made a stylish return to Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Midfield Terminal, where significant portions of the movie were filmed.

On the inaugural aircraft into the brand-new Midfield Terminal at Abu Dhabi International Airport, the hero of the much awaited seventh Mission: Impossible film touched down. Tom Cruise debuted special Mission: Impossible livery on an Etihad Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner to commemorate the movie. The movie logo will now be present on this aircraft as Etihad, the movie’s official airline, flies to locations all over the world.

One of the film’s most exciting and technically challenging action scenes was filmed on the building’s 315-meter top, therefore Midfield Terminal’s famous structure was also adorned with a similar motif to acknowledge its involvement in the movie.

When the film debuts in theatres on July 13, 2023, it will be the first time that the public has seen the interior of the terminal. In addition to sequences in the breathtaking Liwa Desert, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One includes specially constructed sets at the airport, such as an Etihad First Class Lounge.

Elena Sorlini, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, said:“We are delighted to welcome Tom Cruise, the cast and crew of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One back to Abu Dhabi. We’re proud of our role in the film and our contribution to Abu Dhabi as a destination that attracts global talent. The scenes showcased in the movie are a testament to the architecture, scale and design of the iconic Midfield Terminal, which is inspired by the cultural elements of Abu Dhabi.”

Antonoaldo Neves, Group Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Aviation Group, said:
Partnering with Mission: Impossible is a great testament to destination Abu Dhabi and what it has to offer. I couldn’t be prouder of Abu Dhabi and our team in showcasing the unique attractions of the emirate, our new airport and Etihad in the movie.”

The scenes filmed at the Midfield Terminal required 21 days of preparation, seven days of filming production, and involved 762 cast, crew and suppliers. This is the second Mission: Impossible movie to be filmed in Abu Dhabi. In 2018, a HALO sky-diving scene was shot in the emirate with help from the UAE military, Abu Dhabi Film Commission and twofour54.
