Saudi Karate Team honoured 4 Medals in the World Youth League Championship

The Saudi Karate team finished competing in the World Youth League Championship of the International Karate Federation, which was held in La Coruna, Spain from April 26 to April 30, 2023, and featured the categories of buds, juniors, youth, and Olympic. In various martial arts competitions, the team won four medals, including two gold, one silver, and one bronze.

Sanad Sufiani earned the gold medal in the Olympic category’s +84 kg weight division, and Sultan Al-Qahtani took home the silver in the juvenile division’s -61 kg weight division. Under the guidance of coach Captain Mounir Afkir and his assistant national coach, Mohammed Ghazwani, Abdullah Al-Qahtani earned a bronze medal in the -70 kg weight for the junior category, and Saad Al-Saif also won a bronze medal in the -57 kg weight for the junior category.

This participation is a part of the Saudi Karate Federation’s efforts to keep competing in international tournaments, achieve leadership and excellence in the sport, and carry out the Federation’s strategy to produce champions in the sport across a variety of age groups, weight classes, and genders. The objective is to raise the standard of play in the Kingdom so that they can participate in regional and worldwide competitions.

The first Saudi Karate squad is still getting ready for the World Premier League of the International Karate Federation, which will take place in Rabat from May 12–14, 2023, by attending a camp in Riyadh.
