The women’s tennis draw for the Qatar TotalEnergies Open 2023 took place on Saturday in Doha, two days prior the tournament kick off on Monday.
The top four seeds in the draw will receive byes in the first round. They are Jessica Pegula, Caroline Garcia, Iga Swiatek, and Coco Gauff.
19 of the top 20 players in the world are competing in the competition, including World No. 1 and defending champion Swiatek.
Tariq Zainal, the secretary general of the Qatar Tennis, Squash, and Badminton Federation, Saad Al Mohannadi, and Karim Al Al Alami, the director of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, all attended the draw.
Petra Kvitova, a former winner of the Qatar TotalEnergies Open, will play Zhang Shuai of China in the opening round’s main event. –QNA
