Korean National Foundation Day feted
Celebrating 60th Anniversary of Saudi-Korea Diplomatic Relations

The Korean Embassy held a reception on celebration of the National Day, here on Wednesday.
Korean Ambassador Joon-yong PARK received guest of honour His Highness prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, Mayor of Riyadh.
In his welcome speech Ambassador Joon-yong PARK praised the 60th anniversary of establishing its diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and said: “The substantial cooperation between our two countries started with one Korean company’s winning of a construction contract to build a highway between Al-Ula and Khaybar in 1973.”
Ambassador Park said that, the two countries’ relations are entering into a new chapter and new environments unfolding in favor of further strengthening of collaboration in many areas.
Ambassador Park also confirmed that the cooperation is mutual, especially with the successful investment of Aramco in the Korea petroleum industry.
In addition, the Saudi Vision 2030 is serving as a strong puller of the mutual cooperation.
“All of us sincerely hope that the Saudi Vision 2030 will achieve big success as conceived.” said The Ambassador
Ambassador Park also expressed his sincere appreciation and honour to Dr. Ahmed Yamani, President of Prince Sultan University for his contribution among others, to establishing the King Sejong Institute, the first official Korean language learning institute in Saudi Arabia in September this year.
Likewise, Ambassador Park also honoured Mr. Fahad Saad Wallan, a prominent businessman and vice chairman of Wallan Trading Company. He has long contributed to boosting cooperation and friendship between the two countries. Moreover, during the last three years he served as Chairman of the Saudi-Korea Business Council, contributing to strengthening the economic cooperation between the two countries.
Korea and Saudi Arabia have strong cooperation especially on infrastructure and energy facilities in Saudi Arabia.
The ceremony also hosted Saudi female choir who sang Korean song.
