The first Desert Blaze Summer Run Takes Place in AlUla

On Saturday, August 26th, AlUla will play host for the first time to the AlUla Desert Blaze, a special running competition where competitors from all over the world gather to participate in scorching summer heat of 42°C (107°F).

Chief Tourism Officer at the Royal Commission for AlUla Phillip Jones said that AlUla Desert Blaze is a unique and transformative experience that will give everyone taking part a unique perspective of the ancient city of AlUla.

He added, “We continue to diversify our offerings for visitors from around the world, and the AlUla Desert Blaze is an addition to what the destination can offer adventurers and sports enthusiasts looking to indulge in a truly unforgettable experience.”

For runners taking part in the 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km races, the event begins in Hegra, the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in Saudi Arabia. Participants in the 42km course will start their adventure at Maraya, the record-breaking multipurpose entertainment complex, in the Ashar Valley.
