11 fencers compete for the UAE at the Bulgarian “Junior and Cadet Fencing World Championships”

At the recent inauguration of the Junior and Cadet Fencing World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the Arab and Emirati Fencing Federations, emphasized the significance of the UAE team’s participation in the competition. As part of the federation’s plan to develop a generation of qualified competitors capable of participating at the international level, the UAE squad will compete in the Sabre, Foil, and Epee categories.

Al Qasimi met with the UAE squad during his visit to express his support and encourage them to work hard. He also emphasized the federation’s objective of elevating the UAE’s prestige in the world of fencing by taking part in important competitions and setting up training camps for athletes of all ages.

1,700 fencers from 38 nations, including 11 male and female competitors from the UAE, will compete in the competition, which will go until April 9th, 2023. The International Fencing Federation is collaborating with the Bulgarian Fencing Federation to organize the event (FIE). In the past 20 years, Plovdiv has held this significant FIE competition four times, according to the FIE’s interim president, Emmanuel Katsiadakis.
